The concept that I have chosen is separation of power. The government separates its power in many ways and the most prominent that most people know is taxes. There are federal taxes and state taxes. Most people don’t that you pay texes for two different things that then go on to even more different things. When people decided to separate powers they were thinking about taxes as well and to make sure the government or the states are not to wealthy they decide to make taxes go to both of them.
Federal taxes is the one that goes to the government. And self explanatory state taxes go to the state. Taxes go to number of things like for example roads, bridges, farms, scientific or medical research, security like the army. This is just a portion of where your taxes go. Federal taxes now days mostly go to insurance, law enforcement and the army. And state taxes go to schools, road maintenance, and other community projects.
The government and the state can take their income from anything. Taxes are mostly taken out of your income, business, property and even sales. According to American Government 3e, state power and delegation it states “As part of this package of powers, the state and federal governments each have the right to collect income tax from their citizens and corporate tax from businesses.” This shows that the government gets their taxes from citizens and call it a law.
The reason why I created a meme based on separation of power and taxes is because it seems like a joke on how our taxes are so large. We have to pay sometimes more then 20% of taxes from our paychecks and more if you own a business property or want to buy something. We are being told that texes go to schools, road maintenance, and insurance but our roads are still messed up, teachers barely get enough to pay rent and insurance doesn’t cover a real medical emergency.
